Terraced Backyard Patio
The elevation change in this backyard was one of the most severe that Stone has had to tackle and incorporate into a design. We shot all elevations on site using a Zip Level which is fairly standard practice on most projects, but imperative to the completion of this design. There was an overall drop of 10.5' feet from the back step on the upper patio to the sliding doors at the lower patio. We used a series of retaining walls to retain the grade while using natural stone slab steps to traverse this slope. This patio layout mixes concrete with paver banding to reduce the cost of an all paver patio. In a future phase a gas fire pit is to be built on the lower patio for entertaining! This overall implementation will be phased out over several years, and A-1 Land Care will be constructing the walls and steps in Spring of 2019.
